I love this painting because:
Back in 1993 when I was a geology student I was travelling back home to Nottingham from Edinburgh by coach and we stopped in Leeds for a break. I hoofed it up to the art gallery for a quick look round having never visited before and was totally blown away by this picture. You could be looking through a window at this scene, you can almost taste the fjord air. Wonderful. I bought a little postcard of it at the time and almost 20 years on I find myself working in Leeds and I still have that postcard in my study at home - it has travelled with me all that time.
I would like to hang it:
in my study , maybe not to replace my little postcard but to enjoy in all its dramatic glory.
